After craniopharyngioma, germinomas are the next most common form of extrasellar tumours that cause hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism, but are rare overall; they may present in the teenage years (Fig. 13.23). Polydipsia and polyuria are frequent symptoms, as are abnormalities of growth and delayed puberty, but any type of anterior pituitary deficiency and posterior pituitary deficiency may be found.
